2017 Season Notes (As the Atlanta Braves)[edit | edit source]
The Expos began as the Atlanta Braves in the inaugural season of the MLR, one of the first twelve Inaugural teams, and were originally based in Atlanta, Georgia. They were created by On3_BadAssassin, who left the team just after the midpoint of the inaugural season, due to personal reasons. A.J. Preller, current General Manager of the San Diego Padres, then briefly took over as GM, before relinquishing the job. This forced Third Basemen Phil Coulson into the role of GM, which he held until the end of Season One.
Moments of note in Season 1:
- After Session 6, Pitcher Matt Carver was signed.
- After Session 7, Left Fielder Matt Verdin was signed.
- In an unprecedented 6 Team Trade, Second Baseman Gil Metz and Left Fielder Forrest Gleeson were traded to the Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays respectively, and in return, the Braves received Second Baseman Trey Rangers and First Baseman Jay Lupp.
- Before the Expansion Draft, Jay Lupp was traded for a Draft Pick from the Los Angeles Dodgers, which was subsequently traded for First Baseman King Fielder.
- Prior to the Expansion Draft, it was announced that the Braves would be moving to Montreal to become the Expos, and Jameson Poe, recently retired as an active First Baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates would come aboard as General Manager.
- Also prior to the Expansion Draft, it was announced that Cal Tiberius Jr. was the recipient of the Gold Glove in the National League, and Phil Coulson and C.J. Bastian were recipients of the Crystal Cleat, awarded to those players who were the promptest to respond when called upon.
2017 Season Notes (As the Montreal Expos)[edit | edit source]
The newly minted Montreal Expos began operations immediately upon the end of Session 7, bringing Jameson Poe onto the staff as General Manager. Their new stadium, the Stade Enterprise, was put completed just before the Expansion Draft, and, due to personal reasons, Pitcher Junks Tandem was forced to leave the team, granting the Expos a 4th Round Pick in the aforementioned Draft. With that 4th Round Pick, Poe and the Expos signed Catcher Jack Kasutori to share the load with incumbent Catcher Y.E. Wally.
