The Pittsburgh Pirates are an American professional fake baseball franchise based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They are in Major League Redditball's National League, and are one of the twelve inaugural teams in the league. They were created by Ext1nct_Nova.
The Pittsburgh Pirate's first selection in team history was catcher, Gare Doctor, who, for a brief period, was also the general manager of the team after Ext1nct_Nova's departure after Session 2. The Pirates current general manager is Timothy "Pops" Moyer who took over in Session 7 of Season 1.
Season 1[edit | edit source]
The Pirates finished with an impressive 5-2 record at the end of the expansion shortened season 1. Despite finishing tied for first with 3 other teams, the Pittsburgh Pirates were left out of the playoffs. The team was led by Ricky Steele and Johnny Hopkins on offense, leading to Johnny Hopkins winning the silver slugger award for being the top-hitting 3rd baseman in the National League. On the pitching side, Darth Vader led the Pittsburgh Pirates and finished in third place for Cy Young voting.
After two sessions in season one, the Pirates GM went missing after a hike in the Allegheny Mountains. Gare Doctor had to quickly take over the GM spot until a replacement was found. The Pirates played to an impressive 3-1 record under Doctor before Timothy "Pops" Moyer came in to take the reigns for the last session of season one.
In an alcohol fueled rage, Ricky Steele flew off the handle when his stellar hitting duties and his umping duties became too much for him to handle. His umping techniques were called into question which led to Steele lashing out and retiring from the league, despite being a candidate for NL MVP. The team has not heard from him since but it is rumored that Steele and Doctor get together from time to time for a beer and Dungeons and Dragons.
